Going Solo in Bali: Short but sweet

One of my bucket list is to travel alone, so I make it happen. This is just a very short trip, three days in Bali but only two days for tours. So I was just thinking, let’s get this done anyway, I was born ready.

So there, the day has come. When I was at the airport, I was so scared. I swear. I don’t want to hop on the plane, thinking I should go back already. My heart beats so fast, I want to cry, I’m so nervous. This is the first time I felt this kind of anxiety in my entire life. Good thing I have a boyfriend who’s very supportive and he kept on reminding me to be strong and to keep my chill.

I’m a strong independent woman, ya know. You can’t always rely on someone else. So when I arrived at Bali, fear is not in my dictionary anymore.

Upon arrival, I was looking for my name on the arrival area full of people holding placards. I booked a private car with a driver from Klook. And at the same time, I was also looking for the person who has my sim card, I have also booked it in Klook as well. I think getting the sim card is a must, it is very useful when you travel, there are also other sim cards selling outside, but you have to register and set it up by yourself. In my case, Klook set it up for me, very convenient and hassle free.

So here is my itinerary on my first day tour in Bali. I chose to tour Bedugul area rather than Ubud just because why not. Lol. Car rented from Klook for 1,600 pesos plus additional 250,000 idr because of my chosen itinerary.

1st stop, Ulun Danu Beratan Temple. -50,000 IDR

Pura Ulun Danu Beratan, or Pura Bratan, is a major Shaivite water temple on Bali, Indonesia. The temple complex is located on the shores of Lake Bratan in the mountains near Bedugul. You can do Lake activities here, like speed boat, pedal boat, or traditional jukung.

2nd stop, Handara Gate. -50,000 IDR

If you come to Handara Golf and Resort, you must prepare your camera to take pictures of your every single moment you spend there, as you will see a lot of Instagram worthy places within the golf club & resort. One of them is the Balour Balinese gate of Handara-the path way to serenity.

3rd Stop, Twin Lake

So as what you can see in this picture, it so obvious why it is called Twin Lake. The two crater lakes are located within the caldera of extinct Bedugul volcano. They were a single lake until a landslide separated the lake into two lakes, and a narrow land bridge of less than a mile width divides them.

4th stop, Wanagiri Hidden Hills -40, 000 IDR

Each location has different attractions. Normally including a nest, a swing and some kind of bamboo lookout. You simply pay an entrance fee and spend as long as you like within the grounds taking photos.

5th stop, Jatiluwih Rice Terraces

Once a UNESCO Cultural Heritage Site candidate and listed as one of the world’s important cultural landscapes, the Jatiluwih rice terraces flow down the southern slopes of the Batukaru mountain range in West Bali.

I said to the driver that our next stop should be at Tegalalang Rice Terraces, but he brought me here. Well it left me with no choice but to enjoy the view and don’t stress myself and the fact that I’m hungry already. Lol.

I had my lunch at one of the restaurants here, it cost me 95, 000 IDR for my lunch.

6th stop, Seminyak Beach, La Plancha

An absolute colorful beach shack, La Plancha is a beachfront restaurant and bar nestled on the shore of the famous Seminyak’s surf break & best sunset point. You can seat back, relax and enjoy the sunset here.

Last stop, Grandmas Hotel, Seminyak. Walking distance from La Plancha beach. It cost me 774, 000 IDR for two nights. Bought dinner at Circle K convenience store that cost me 22, 000 IDR.

  • A good camera is always a good investment. I’m only using an ip6+ in my pictures here. And the most important thing is that make sure you have someone to take photos of you. But whatever, its always picture or never happened anyway.

Day 2: The Nusa Penida Tour – 1 500 000 IDR

Booked a private tour which includes Hotel tranfers, boat tickets, lunch, entrance fees, parking ticket, and mineral water. Everything is included. You don’t have to pay for anything else when you get there.

1st stop, Kelingking Beach.

Secluded, white sandy beach with turquoise waters enclosed by a steep cliff & headland. 30 minutes to an hour trek to get down the beach and an hour or two to go back. No matter where you view Kelingking Secret Point Beach from, you are bound to enjoy the spectacular coastline that Nusa Penida has to offer.

2nd stop, Angel Billabong

It’s a spectacular sight and nature’s own infinity pool. The road leading up to this area is very bad though but worth it. Can swim in the pool too during low tide. It’s always better when it’s not crowded. Lol

3rd stop, Broken beach

Few minutes’ walk from Angel Billabong. Broken Beach is an incredible little cove on Nusa Penida island. The highlight of the cove and the reason it is called Broken Beach is due to the archway that wraps around the bay allowing water to flow in and out from the ocean.

4th stop, Crystal Bay

This place is good for snorkeling and diving, chill and beautiful sunset. But I wasn’t able to experience all of that because of a very limited time.

  • If you just want to see these places, you can have the day tour. BUT if you want to EXPERIENCE and ENJOY these places, book for a hotel in Nusa Penida, stay for one night or two. Unfortunately, I just got to see it and take a photo here. No time for swimming and snorkelling because we have to go back at the harbour before 3 pm to catch the boat back to Bali.
Nusa Penida Tour: 1 500 000 IDR
Dinner: 22 000 IDR
Total: 5, 646.64 PHP

Day 3

Taxi from Hotel (Seminyak) to Airport: 75,000 idr

Meals: 40 000 idr

Total expenses:
DAY 1: 1, 880.98 php
DAY 2: 5, 646. 46 php
DAY 3: 426.65 php
Plane Ticket: 4, 900 php
Hotel: 2, 781.58 php
TOTAL EXPENSES: 15, 635.67

  • Book a four or five days stay in Bali. Two days is too short. Book a tour to Ubud and or book a lesson for Surfing, visit beautiful cafes like sea circus cafe or Motel Mexicola, go to W Hotel, book a private villa and chill, book a tour at Night Safari, and a whole lot more. Bali has a lot to offer. I still have a long list on what to do and where to go there but this is just my short time in Bali, tell me about yours. I might go back, someday.
